Your Aesthetic Consultation Journey
At Bloom by J, all aesthetic treatments are carried out by founder Jamie – an experienced, fully qualified, and insured medical practitioner and prescriber based in Farnham. The treatment journey can be simplified into the following steps:
1. Consultation
2. Consent
3. Skin preparation/numbing
4. Treatment/ Procedure
5. Aftercare instructions and guidance
Why do I need an initial consultation?
You may already have an idea of what you’d like — and we welcome that at our Farnham clinic!
However, an initial consultation ensures your treatment plan is safe, suitable, and completely tailored to you.
As a nurse practitioner, I take a holistic and medical approach. This means taking a full medical and medication history, understanding your lifestyle and health, and carrying out a detailed skin assessment before recommending any treatment.
From the moment you arrive, you’ll be welcomed into a calm, private space where we can talk openly about:
-
Your skin goals and concerns
-
What you currently like (and don’t like) about your skin
-
Any previous treatments or skincare you’ve tried
By the end of your consultation, you’ll have:
-
A clear understanding of what’s possible and realistic
-
Professional, honest advice
-
A personalised plan tailored to your goals
-
Time to reflect before deciding on treatment
If you’re ready to go ahead, booking is simple and can be done directly during your consultation or online at your convenience.

How you’ll benefit from a consultation
In-depth facial analysis
We’ll assess your facial structure and skin quality from an aesthetic point of view — highlighting areas that can be subtly enhanced or rejuvenated to help you look refreshed and confident, while respecting your natural anatomy.
Personalised treatment plan
Based on your goals, skin type, and lifestyle, We'll create a bespoke treatment plan using premium, FDA-approved products. You’ll receive clear information on every option available, so you can make informed choices.
Honest discussion and transparency
We’ll go through potential results, side effects, and how any complications would be managed — ensuring you feel fully informed and in control.
There’s no pressure and no hard sell — just a supportive, honest conversation about what might work best for you.
Why your Consent matters
Your safety and comfort come first. During your consultation, we’ll clearly explain the treatment, expected results, and any risks, and we’ll keep a simple record of what we discuss. This helps us make sure the treatment is right for you.
Your Data & GDPR
We also take great care with your personal information. Under GDPR, we will ask for your consent regarding:
-
How we store and use your details
-
How we contact you
-
Whether you want updates or promotions
-
Photo storage and permission for social media use
You can change your mind or withdraw consent at any time. Our aim is to keep everything clear, secure, and fully in your control.

What to expect during Treatment
To prepare safely and get the best results, you may be asked to:
-
Stay hydrated
-
Avoid certain medications or supplements
-
Pause active skincare products (ie. Retinol, acids)
-
Limit alcohol
-
Avoid sun exposure
Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin to reduce the risk of infection.
You may be given numbing cream, and tools like a stress ball can help with any discomfort.
Your practitioner will take their time, follow strict hygiene standards, and talk you through each step.
We will cleanse the area, apply numbing if needed, and carry out your treatment carefully and safely—never rushed, always focused on your comfort.
Some treatments (like fillers, peels, or microneedling) may cause short-term redness, swelling, or peeling. Many clients return to daily activities straight away, but plan a little downtime just in case.
After your consultation
Your aftercare is an important part of achieving safe, smooth, and effective results. After your treatment, you’ll receive personalised advice tailored to the procedure you’ve had, but most clients can expect guidance such as:
-
Keep the area clean and avoid touching or rubbing the skin.
-
Avoid makeup for a short period to reduce the risk of irritation or infection.
-
Stay out of heat (saunas, hot showers, steam rooms) and avoid strenuous exercise for 24–48 hours, as heat and increased blood flow can worsen swelling or bruising.
-
Avoid alcohol for the first day, as it may increase bruising.
-
Protect your skin from the sun, using SPF daily and avoiding tanning.
-
Use gentle skincare only, avoiding active ingredients like retinol, acids, or exfoliants until advised.
-
Do not massage or manipulate the area unless your practitioner specifically recommends it.
-
Expect mild swelling, redness, or tenderness, which is normal and usually settles within a few days.
We’ll let you know exactly what to expect from your specific treatment and when you should reach out to the clinic. If you have any concerns at any point, we’re always here to advise and support you.
